Last week at camp, one of our most successful programs was a class on Financial Literacy.

  1. "Entrepreneurship: The students learned what entrepreneurship is, how they can become an entrepreneur, and ways to expand on their goals by creating vision boards. Vision boards are important for the students because they are able to creatively visualize what they want to become and what their future goals are. This is important to entrepreneurship because our scholars will need set goals, put them on paper, and know that they will happen if they work hard.

  2. Financial Literacy: We introduced the basics of financial literacy and money management throughout any career by playing an engaging game of "BINGO." Not only did our scholars learn definitions, but they were able to repeat all of the words as a group. (They were given flash cards with all of the definitions with photos to recognize and remember effectively.)

The students left our program having drawn from the following areas:

  • Teamwork- The students worked together by locating photos, words/phrases that represent who they are, and sharing their ideas with each other.

  • Leadership/Self-Esteem- The students were able to present and communicate their goals effortlessly, and in a safe please where they felt comfortable and fearless.

  • Knowledge - The students left our program understanding that the key to success is knowledge and tenacity."

Looking at the pictures, you can tell how engaged and enthusiastic the kids were.
